Wow to get rid of the task bar.

Dan,

Copy /etc/xfce4/xinitrc ~/.xfce4/
make it executable chmod a+x ~/.xfce4/xinitrc
Edit ~/.xfce4/xinitrc and comment out xftaskbar4
Add xfce4-iconbox& to the list
Restart
