xftree - annoying refreshes

The issue is NFS related. xftree refreshes directories when the st_mtime
field is changed. With the linux implementation of NFS this field is
constantly changing, so that makes it refresh constantly. You could edit
the source code and look for a "#define" where the refresh interval is
set. I don't know if the issue also affects rsfs too.
