First of all, I don't think your too stupid. _I_ am if you thought I
meant to say that. 

Secondly, yes you always need devel packages of relevant libraries when
building from source. And I really don't think I need to add that to the
page, since the intended audience is people who are familiar with
building from source. It may be good to add that to the page though.
I'll think about it. 

And we depend on libraries, not on distributions, so every distribution
that ships gtk2 should work (with the required devel packages
installed :).

Thanks for the feedback. Don't feel offended and please try it out if
you want to. I was only making sure you and everyone else don't think of
xfce 4 as finished product that should 'just work' (TM) out of the box.
