Hi there,
Not necessary to install CUPS, but it is better. Also for the future
together with TurboPrint you get the best results.
Did you run spadmin, a small program that is included with Star- and
Open-Office. It's there to install or change your printer configuration.
I most say, in the beginning I also had problems with printing. But it
works fine after you play around with the settings.
