About the Mail Check thing and evolution

I dont need to be rude or seem like a lazy ass that don't wanna google.
But I dont understand how to proceed managing this. The mailbox
(directory) doesnt look like something that's "checkable" and I really
don't know where to start. Anyone have any pointers?
