Xfce3 is fast, and a very nice environment. I like Icewm because I like
a taskbar, and the debs for my system don't have that option. If you
compile your own, you can enable a taskbar that is attached to the panel
or at the bottom of the screen. Or maybe your rpm install has that
option enabled.
Xfce4 is not complete yet, but the look and feel are very nice. It has a
taskbar, but the desktop menus are not fully implemented like in xfce3.
You can add items to your desktop user menu, and they show kde and gnome
items. (not in xfce4 yet)
