make your own XFce packages

i have successfully used the program checkinstall to create *.deb and *.rpm
files from the xfce-stable cvs module and would really like to recommend that
tool.
there is no checkinstall package available in debian woody,
but by searching the "testing" packages at
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages#search_packages for 'checkinstall' i
found the package for testing and installed it with dpkg -i in woody.
a checkinstall rpm package of checkinstall can be found via freshmeat.net - i
installed that one in redhat 7.3 with no problems.

the usage of checkinstall is fairly simple:
in your source directory you run
./configure [options]
checkinstall
you will be prompted for the rest ;)

wolfgang
