root window completely messed up

HI Richard!

My old tnt2 ultra produced a similar thing before it completely died. I
suggest you should try another card. If the problem became solved (i
guess it will happen) then it's clear, if not we have to think it over
again. But the first thing is definitely test your system w/ another
video card imho.
