Question about xfsound

Just curious.

The xfce default settings for xfsound is internal, and this never
works.  As soon as I change the setting to external, sounds appear.

What does the internal setting do, and under what conditions would
that work.  With internal, I always get a message in the log saying
whatever xxx.wav file is not a format supported by the sound card.
