Compile error with xfce-stable

with 3.8.18 from cvs i get the following error (on FreeBSD, not sure if that
matters) when running make after ./configure --enable-old-style
--enable-taskbar:
xfce_theme_draw.c:753: macro ^DETAIL' used with too many (2) args
*** Error code 1
Stop in /usr/src/xfce-stable/xfce_theme.
*** Error code 1
Stop in /usr/src/xfce-stable.
*** Error code 1
Stop in /usr/src/xfce-stable.

luckily, the xfce-cvs-snapshot.tar.gz from xfce.org/archive works.
