exec format error

Hi,

When I double click on file within xftree I do expect to open
the file with the appropriate package.
For example, when I click on  file.doc  I would like
to open the file with openoffice.

yes, I did register ".doc" with "openoffice".

Because of some unknown reason I do get the message "exec format error".
When I select with "right mouse button" selection  "Open with..."
and I select "openoffice" as my packege, the I am am able
to open "file.doc"

So, the question is very simple:  What I am doing wrong ?
