compiling CVS problem

Hi,

To get the long-awaited (:-) taskbar feature I've downloaded the CVS
version, untarred, ran 'configure' exactly as in the Olivier's post,
then 'make'. First, it complained saying:

cd . && autoheader
FATAL ERROR: Autoconf version 2.52 or higher is required for this script

but went further. Finally, however, it failed: on "snprintf.c":

snprintf.c: In function `dopr':
snprintf.c:269: `short int' is promoted to `int' when passed through `...'
snprintf.c:269: (so you should pass `int' not `short int' to `va_arg')
snprintf.c:279: `short unsigned int' is promoted to `int' when passed
  through `...'
snprintf.c:289: `short unsigned int' is promoted to `int' when passed
  through `...'
snprintf.c:301: `short unsigned int' is promoted to `int' when passed
through `...'
make[2]: *** [snprintf.lo] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/386/msz/xfce-stable/libs'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/386/msz/xfce-stable'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

Any idea what's wrong? Can this final failure be consequence of 'autoconf'
problem at start?

regards, Michal.

PS. Environment: Linux RH7.2, 2.4.9-13, gcc-2.96-98, glibc-2.2.4-19.3
