Xftree idea/question

In the preferences menu, choose configure toolbar. There you can set what 
buttons you want to see and which to hide. You also have a "big buttons" 
configuration, which uses a different set of buttons. You could use "big 
buttons" to effectively turn all buttons off  with a single click.
