There are a lot of options/parameters for xfwm, which is derived from the
fvwm. And fvwm is probably one of the most flexible window managers ever.
In fact, fvwmrc/xfwmrc is not just a configuration file, it's a sort of
programming language. It's pretty hard to create a GUI for this stuff
(because of it's complexity). The basic most frequently used preferences
can be changed through the GUI. For the rest --  just click this big
blue 'i' and read some docs. IMHO it's a pretty good approach.
