actually, apparently because i upgraded from source as root on a debian
system, i found it in /xfce.3.8.12b/debian/xfce/etc/X11/xfce/xinitrc.
i swear i'm not trying to make fun of anyone. that's the effective rc on my
system. obviously, by my previous posts, i didn't know that till now.
incidentally, if anyone knows how i can upgrade in the future to be more
compliant with debian, or has a clue as to when the next .deb appropriate
iteration of xfce is ready to go, please let me know.
i'm way into xfce because it lets me run anything i want, and accommodates my
diverse desires without the slightest hesitation, and unlike gnome or kde, it
frees memory when i'm done with an app, whereas both of those try to keep
hold of where their last app ran until i run enough mem-hog apps, such as
netscape (now, there's a joke that ain't even funny) or gimp (which i
actually love for what it does). with xfce, i can do it all. to you guys who
make my pleasure possible, thanks so much. to those who ever give you grief,
they can bite my ass.
xfce rocks, and so do its maintainers and advocates, although we advocates
obviously rock a little less than the folks who make it available to
everyone. again, to all of you, thanks.
