I'm not sure how to handle this but it's the second time I have to deal 
with it, so let's forward it to the dev mailing lists...

GNU docs have the following to say 
(http://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/html_node/Error-required-file-ltmain_002esh-not-found.html):

"Hopefully, replacing existing bootstrap.sh or autogen.sh scripts by a 
call to autoreconf should also free you from any similar incompatible 
change in the future."

Any comments on how to deal with it?
