I run trunk now, and It didn't seem to get in effect, even with newly-compiled xfdekstop.
I've deleted ~/.cache/xfce4/desktop/menu-cache-* before logging in.
.desktop files seem to be fine, see

It does work with a new user though, so i think i'll have to reset something else here
