OK. Seems like a good idea. I personally use the drag and drop features
supported with xftree. That way you choose the download directory
directly by dropping on the right place in xftree. Im not sure whether
the download button can download more than one file at once, or download
a directory with all its contents, but the dragndrop method can.

It could be a progress bar like that of xftree, otherwise I believe
smbclient does not provide a mecanism. OTH, you use the mount option and
use xftree to download the file. But this would give a progress bar like
that mentioned above. You can use the progress bars of other
filemanagers for the uploading, but at the moment I believe xftree is
the only one capable of receiving downloads drops from xfsamba.
