Yes, afaik that is possible.
Just take a try for different themes. E.g. adwaita uses some blue bar to show
which tab is active: https://imgur.com/8PCBsIf.png
Though on greybird only the color is slightly different.  Since greybird is the
xfce default, actually it would be nice to improve that.
