I checked nemo, nautilus, caja, dolphin, ls and dir.
>From these, only dolphin sorted underscores first ... so it seems to be not
that customary.

However I would use it ;)  ... as opt-in hidden option, it would be ok for me.

I dont have time to work on it in the near future, patches would be very
welcome !
