First of all, which thunar version do you use ?

If it is outdated, please try to reproduce with an up to date version (1.8.9)
or (1.8.10). Possibly the bug got fixed meanwhile.

In order to work on a fix, it would be required to:
a) Have a reproducer
or at least:
b) Have a backtrace of the crash.
