Uh, sorry, I overlooked the desktop notification part.

However I anyhow think that the linked bug would be the better solution.

It is not clear when / in which frequency thunar could popup a desktop
notification.

At startup would not work out, since thunar  usually is started by dbus ...
whereas the notification service may not run yet.
