I can reproduce the bug in thunar 1.8.x, it has been introduced in gtk 3.24.7
(no problems in gtk 3.24.5).
As fotoxx seems to have the problem (and maybe other softwares), it can be a
bug in gtk itself.

Reassign to thunar for investigations.
