Bug ID: 15182
Summary: Prefix search occasionally broken
Classification: Xfce Core
Product: Thunar
Version: 1.8.4
Hardware: PC (x86_64)
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: Desktop
Assignee: xfce-bugs at xfce.org
Reporter: D.A.I.Cooke at gmail.com
CC: benny at xfce.org, hjudt at xfce.org
Target Milestone: 1.8.5
For about a month now, searching by entering the first few characters of a file
will occasionally malfunction. I am not able to reliably reproduce this, but
I've received reports from others that they've encountered a similar
regression.
The main symptom is that entering the first couple of characters will not
select the relevant file/folder. These characters also do not appear in the
quick-search box on the bottom right of the window.
Resolving the problem after it occurs can sometimes be done by switching to a
different application and back to thunar. Re-launching a thunar window is
sometimes necessary.
Any information I think could be relevant:
- Thunar version: 1.8.4 (no distro-specific patches)
- Window manager: i3 version 4.16.1
- Distribution: Arch
I realize that the description is a tad lackluster, but I'm willing to supply
any additional information upon request. I suspect the defect has been
introduced somewhere after version 1.8.2 since I've only noticed it in 2019.
Arch has been shipping version >=1.8.2 since the beginning of this year [1].
