Bug ID: 15904
Summary: Side Effect of Bug #14809
Classification: Xfce Core
Product: Thunar
Version: 1.8.8
Hardware: PC (x86_64)
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: Low
Component: General
Assignee: xfce-bugs at xfce.org
Reporter: freddykul at gmx.com
Target Milestone: 1.8.10
Reporting this in a new thread as requested by Theo Linkspfeifer in
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14809
Drag and drop works as expected now with files added to the folder after the
1.8.5 update, but files added to the same folder before the update still
require holding down the 'shift' key to move them instead of merely copying
them.
To clarify, this occurs on the same hard drive as the primary system, but a
second partition, and the file drag/drop is to a subdirectory in the same
folder on the same second partition.
Relevant filesystem layout (all on the second partition, same physical hard
drive, ext4 FS):
(/dev/sdb1)
/
(/dev/sdb2)
- Photos
-- modified-photos
If this is expected behavior because of some lingering filesystem or Thunar
"residue", is there a way I can "touch" the files to simulate adding them after
the update, without updating the original time/date they were added? This
isn't a terribly critical bug, but it would be nice to have all the files in
the same folder react in the same manner. That said, maintaining the date/time
order of the files is far more important than exercising my pinky. :)
(I have photo backups on other media, so I don't mind experimenting if
necessary, but I don't know enough about low-level FS operations to know what
affects what.)
