Interesting .. so the changes are high that you hitted a gvfs bug.

You could try mounting the drive in console via "gvfs-mount" and see if any
errors pop up / if you can reproduce the problem on console.

If yes, best check the gvfs bugtracker and report the bug there to get further
help.
