Hi, sorry if I take a long time to answer but I'm busy with life (just don't
assume I've abandoned the issue :) )
gio list and its deprecated counterpart gvfs-ls work fine. 
I still have the issue when I disable thumbnail generation.
I'll try nautlilus tomorrow...
