is not related to the one reported here:

I can also confirm that crash only happens if the tree view is enabled
(CTRL+E), but hidden files should not be visible when the first window is
created.

@frode try to disable the tree view, use the shortcuts view (CTRL+B) for
sometime so we can be sure the tree view is the culprit.
