I have just tested the patch on a new openbsd 6.3 install, the fallback code
works as expected!

I would prefer a compile flag, also probably specifying
'G_DBUS_PROXY_FLAGS_DO_NOT_AUTO_START' on the consolekit proxy creating should
avoid auto-launching the daemon if it is not already running.
