            Bug ID: 14876
Summary: Feature request: Toggle in Thunar preferences
determining how executable text files are handled
    Classification: Xfce Core
           Product: Thunar
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Medium
         Component: General
          Assignee: xfce-bugs at xfce.org
          Reporter: Anlity60 at einrot.com
CC: benny at xfce.org, hjudt at xfce.org
  Target Milestone: 1.8.3

Component: Thunar Prefferences

OS: Linux

Summary: Enabling the feature to execute shell scripts with double click
requires the user to run a long obscure command found on the internet.
Extremely beginner unfriendly.

Description:

Overview: There is no graphical way atm to switch the default behaviour
(for executable text files) from opening the file in the text editor, to
executing them.

    Steps to Reproduce:

        1) Open Thunar, and go to Edit>Preferences

        2) There is no option to switch default behaviour for executable text
files

    Actual Results:

        Nothing changed

    Expected Results:

A drop down menu or button toggle that would enable the user to switch
between:

        1) double click opens executable text file (shell script) in text
editor
        2) double click executes the executable text file
        3) Ask every time
