            Bug ID: 11739
Summary: Thunar doesn't like long names
    Classification: Xfce
           Product: Thunar
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Medium
         Component: core
          Assignee: xfce-bugs at xfce.org
          Reporter: xbzlhe at boximail.com

Thunar 1.6.3 in Xubuntu 14.10

I created some nested directories with long names to see how Thunar would
handle them:

$ mkdir -p
vfdcfr/mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhwwwwwwwwwwwwpppppppppppppppp/ttttttttttttttttttttttttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyygggggggggggggggggggkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkddddddddddddddddd/sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhcccccccccccc/wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The following three screenshots show the results:

1 (thunar1.png): The whole filename is displayed, necessitating a horizontal
scrollbar which hides all columns except for the first. Would it not be better
to do what Midnight Commander does, i.e.:
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm~mmmmmmmmmmmmmm or mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ?

2 (thunar2.png): If I try to delete something, the delete dialogue box goes off
the screen, hiding the part of it where the buttons are.

3 (thunar3.png): Once a horizontal scrollbar appears, it remains there
unnecessarily after navigating back (or forward) to a directory where it is not
required, thus hiding the other columns.
