Ok, pushed to git master branch. The issue I had is in fact bug #8678, the
option is not respected by the actions plugin.

If no bug is reported against this code in the near future, I'll backport it to
the stable branch as it should fix a fair number of annoyances and avoids data
loss in some cases.
