Here's something else to try - run GNOME, and set your gtk theme to the same
one you use in Xfce.  If it doesn't crash, that also rules out the xfce theme
engine.

Also... tray icon?  Firefox doesn't have a tray icon.  Possible you have an
extension installed that's misbehaving.  Either that or your backtrace is
corrupt.
