Summary: Xfce startup time suddenly increased
           Product: Xfce
           Version: 4.4.1
          Platform: PC (x86)
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Medium
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: xfce-bugs at xfce.org
        ReportedBy: daniel.pielmeier at googlemail.com

A few days ago i recognized when log in to xfce the startup time increased. I
mean the time between hitting 'enter' after giving the password within the
login-manager and the disappearing of the xfce splash-screen.

Before i think it tooks less than 5 seconds. Now the startup time is about 13
seconds.

I did not remember changing any settings nor updating an xfce-package.

I have attached two pictures generated with bootchart, one is from system
startup (bootchart_boot.png) and the other one is from the login
(bootchart_login.png). The interesting one for you maybe the login-picture, but
maybe the other one gives also some information.

At the login picture you can see the startup-time of xfce-session starting at
72s and the startup time of conky which is the only program i start wih the
autostart function of xfce at 85s. Conky appears immediately after the
disappearing of the splash-screen.

Don`t be confused about the overall long startup-time of 85s. The time between
35s (starting X and slim) and 72s i needed to set up bootchart for capturing
the login process.

What could be the reason for xfce needing so much time for startup, as it is a
bit annoying? If you need additional information feel free to ask!

Regards,

Daniel
