This would be kinda cool, but it's not just as simple as shelling out to a
binary.  You have to build the lists of keymaps, then there are a bunch of
options that maybe the X install supports, maybe not.  It would be a cool
feature to have, though it's not by any means a "trivial task" as you say.

So... get coding ^_~.
