Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was, but there was a reason why we
added this libxfce4util instead of the startup script (we should have used
bugzilla more extensively...).

Btw. your script is not going to work, as () spawns a subshell and so
XDG_DATA_DIRS="@datadir@" is set in the subshell, which exits immediately.
