The report is ok ;-) 

I really don't expect people to do this very often, switch between text entry
and buttons that is, so I don't believe there should be a UI item in such a
prominent place. 

I believe the the Ctrl-L dialog should be sufficient. Typing paths is not
something the file manager should be primarily designed for.
