Summary: KDE 3.3. apps crash and burn under XFCE 4.2CVS
Description:
This was reported on the forums - I wasn't aware of this bug tracking
system. Konqueror and the KOffice apps all fail with something like the
following shown in the console :
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 7373, errno = 32
They all load the interface as it is shown on screen, but before you get a
chance to use the application, it quits.
The problem has been present since KDE 3.3b1

ICE is used for both Session Management and DCOP in KDE. The first could be
a problem in xfce4-session or in the kdelibs. The second would definetly be
a KDE problem. Try enabling KDE compatibility in the session management
properties and restart your session.

Enabling the session management appears to resolve the issues with CVS from
7th September compiled on a fresh SuSE 9.1 system updated through to the
latest of everything including KDE via apt4rpm and apt-get dist-upgrade.
All is well now.
