Let me rephrase. If I load the Xfce Settings Manager (xfce-setting-show), the
icon that shows up in the taskbar is from my specified GTK icon theme. If I
load the Desktop or Panel settings, same thing. Any of the others bring up the
default icon (i.e. from the hicolor theme).
So it seems that the way the taskbar draws applications' icons could be done
however the Desktop and Panel settings do it.
