From andrewski at fr.st Thu Apr 7 02:24:42 2005 From: andrewski at fr.st (Andrew Conkling) Date: Wed, 06 Apr 2005 20:24:42 -0400 Subject: [Xfce-apps] directory.xfce.org questions Message-ID: <1112833482.22919.8.camel@localhost> I'm joining the discussion; I tried doing so on the forum but figured I'd track it better this way. Here's my post from the forum: Glad to see this getting off the ground. I see a lot of people asking this in #xfce on Freenode and here on the forum. A few suggestions: 1. For Jasper's thread on icon themes (IIRC, it's also on his website), could we add a link to third-party icon themes' websites? (If they happen to be only on another theme site, could we offer them hosting on directory.xfce.org?) 2. I think there should be a separate page for icon, GTK, and WM themes. How about another page with metathemes, so that any user that wants a consistent interface can pick from a (much?) shorter list? 3. What criteria are you going to use for picking what goes on the site? For icon themes and GTK themes, Gnome's themes are the same as Xfce's so we'd have to be creative there.... Sorry if I've missed discussion on these things already. :P Cheers folks, Andrew From samuel.verstraete at gmail.com Thu Apr 7 07:38:16 2005 From: samuel.verstraete at gmail.com (samuel verstraete) Date: Thu, 7 Apr 2005 07:38:16 +0200 Subject: [Xfce-apps] directory.xfce.org questions In-Reply-To: <1112833482.22919.8.camel@localhost> References: <1112833482.22919.8.camel@localhost> Message-ID: On Apr 7, 2005 2:24 AM, Andrew Conkling wrote: > I'm joining the discussion; I tried doing so on the forum but figured > I'd track it better this way. What I basically would propose that artwork can be submitted by anyone (even if you're not the author) but that I will ask if the submitter actually proposed this to the author... although most artwork should be or license free or gpl license I'd rather be polite... > > 2. I like the metatheme thing... we can add it :) What would be a "consistent" interface then? like wm theme + icon theme + gtk theme? > 3. Basically I was thinking that I/or other people will propose the author of popular themes (so that will be pretty much on demand) if he/she wants to submit a theme to directory.xfce.org and if he/she doesn't want I will submit it myself or somebody else can.. The only criteria will be that I want to be sure that the original author has been contacted.... Anyway it still to be seen how important this actually is. I will start with the whole thing like that but if it doesn't work out like I want we can still change the thing off course. gr, S. > > Sorry if I've missed discussion on these things already. :P > > Cheers folks, > Andrew > > _______________________________________________ > Xfce-apps mailing list > Xfce-apps at xfce.org > http://foo-projects.org/mailman/listinfo/xfce-apps >
