Edit Summary: Install Thunar and Xfce4 beta1 release on Gentoo
User        :

For all Gentoo users that want to use and test new releases of Thunar and Xfce4 there exist easy solution. To have any application included in new beta release of Xfce You have to follow only these few steps.

   - I've created a set of ebuilds that could be used to install all needed packages of xfce4-4.4.0_beta1. To get them go to [[http://dev.gentoo.org/~moloh/ebuilds/|this]] site and download xfce4-4.4.0_beta1.tar.gz file.
   - Next step include creation of portage overlay, this procedure is explained in [[http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing_3rd_Party_Ebuilds|this]] howto and [[http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2006.0/handbook-x86.xml?part=3&chap=5|chapter]] of Gentoo Handbook. I assume that overlay was created in /usr/local/portage.
   - Last part include extraction of archive into this location. All needed files are there, ebuilds, checksums and specific layout are already present in the archive. Now You have only unmask ~x86 keyword (instructions how to do it can be found [[http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/2006.0/handbook-x86.xml?part=3&chap=3|here]], in Gentoo Handbook), and use **emerge xfce4** command. If You want install thunar only, instead of <del>**emerge xfce4**</del> use **emerge thunar**. It will work with previous, stable release of xfce4.

Notes:
  * These ebuild are only ~x86 keyworded.
  * No debug options are set (no USE="debug")
  * No documentation (almost) installation
  * Gentoo developers responsible for maintaining xfce packages already have all these ebuilds, i know they prepare an official release that would be in Portage tree soon.
