Ok, I lied, it more or less works now (I've only tested it using a
single USB flash disk, so...). It's not complete, but the basic
functionality is there.
Sadly, it requires gtk 2.10 right now because I didn't feel like taking
the time to backport GtkStatusIcon (or dig up and use EggTrayIcon or
something). But I (or someone) will fix that later.
I'll put up an experimental tarball later tonight after I've had some
time to test it a bit more; for now just use SVN. If it doesn't work
right... well, that's what happens when I write an app in less than 2 hours.
Just do ./autogen.sh && make && make install, and run the
'xfce4-volstatus-icon' program. Note that, if you don't have any
removable volumes plugged in, it will appear that nothing happened.
Just leave it running, and the icon should appear in your systray when
you plug something in. Right-click the icon to get a menu that will let
you eject stuff.
No complaining (unless you accompany your complaint with a patch) until
at least tomorrow (US time)!
