That was discussed earlier, and it's not going to be implemented in the
first version. These are totally different concepts: On the one hand you
have the shortcuts pane, which acts the bookmarks pane in a webbrowser,
on the other other hand you have the tree view, which represents the
file system.

Thunar remembers the last selected side pane, no need to tell it which
side pane to use.
