[Thunar-dev] Inconsistent 'Open with' behaviour

Yeah, but that wouldn't risk to confuse the user as much as the current
behaviour.
When I want to open a file with a program not already in the menu, I
doesn't always want to use that program as the default in the future.

All I want is a choice in the Open With dialog. With a sane default for
the checkbox, it would contribute to make Thunar Just Work, while still
giving the user a choice.
