[Thunar-dev] Idea for powerful rename feature

Hi all,
I just remembered the 'rename' command my Debian box has. There you can
rename files/directories based on regular expressions (e.g. "rename 's/
/_/g <file>'). This is one of the things which make using the console
more attractive than using a file manager.
What I want to say is: Wouldn't it be possible to provide such a
'rename' function (based on GPatternSpec) in Thunar, too? I mean, when
you select one or more files/dirs (and maybe checked a 'use advanced
rename' option in the settings before) and open the context menu,
couldn't there be a 'rename' option opening a dialog where you can
insert two expressions and maybe check the 'global' replacement (".../g")?
This way you could e.g. remove all spaces in several files/dirs much
easier. It shouldn't be too difficult to implement.
What do you think?
Regards,
Jannis
