That has nothing to do with intelligence.

Typeing path names is not something the famous 'ordinary' user is going 
to do a lot. For instance I don't think many windows users ever type in 
path names. Of course they don't have tab completion... ;-)

Remembering commands and also locations is typical advanced user 
behaviour. Casual users will commonly prefer point and click.

I'm not saying the functionallity shouldn't be there, I'm saying it 
doesn't have to be in your face all the time. So a keyboard shortcut 
(and a menu option) to bring it up seems fine to me.
