Thanks Harald, I didn't that the weather-plugin was outdated since it came with
the latest LTS 16.04. I can confirm that the updated weather-plugin works as
expected and can be found here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-weather-plugin . Unfortunately you
won't be able to obtain the latest xfce4-weather-plugin from the LTS repos, the
only have the old one 0.8.6-1 on there.
