i agree with you, but keeping a reference to the 'previous' provider and
removing it before adding the new one feels wrong in the code flow. There
*should* be an elegant way to solve that.

Maybe using
https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/GtkCssProvider.html#gtk-css-provider-get-default
and loading the css in this one, instead of creating a new one ?
