I thought about it - I had looked at geoclue: 
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/GeoClue

With a good enough localisation service, the thing could even update the
location when you're travelling. The problem is that IP-based geolocation is
really error prone (with 2 out of my 3 usual places being detected as "Paris,
France" whereas I'm 700 kilometers away).

So, if I add this, it'll be just for the initial plugin configuration.
