Hey all,
I'm glad to tell you that the release manager finally is available.
It's looking ugly as hell (didn't find the time to prepare a stylesheet
yet), but it seems to work.
You can find it on http://goodies.xfce.org/release-manager/.
All of you who have a wiki account are able to login (ideally, this
means that every developer can do this). If you don't own a wiki
account yet, please apply for one (by sending a request to me).
Now, what is this "release manager" all about? First of all, it
provides a list of goodies you are working on. This list doesn't only
list the goodies, it also lists all files found in
the /releases/<goodie>/ directory on Mocha. You can delete these files
and upload new ones (by using the "Prepare a new release" form).
The release form is something very cool - at least I think so. All you
have to do is to define a release version, an announcement message (for
details on this see below) and two files: the release tarball and a
changelog (ideally, this would be a file named "ChangeLog").
When submitting the form, your files are uploaded to the /releases/
directory and announcements are sent to goodies-dev at xfce.org and
xfce at xfce.org (you can disable these announcements by unchecking
"Notify mailinglists" in the form).
Please note two things:
1. In your announcement, you don't have to mention links to the
released file, the changelog or the goodie's website - all these
links are automatically generated and appended to the announcement
message. I'll send a test mail to this list in a few minutes,
which demonstrates this feature.
2. If you want to send announcements to the mentioned mailinglists,
you have to be registered to both *with the same email address*.
This addess has to be the same as you're using in the Wiki. See
http://goodies.xfce.org/wiki/user-accounts for details on how you
can change your wiki email address.
That's it. Now have fun with it - and please complain if anything is
missing or you can't login. Before I forget about it: The login data is
the same as for the wiki (and you can change your password now, see the
link mentioned in 2. for this)!
Regards,
Jannis
